I know Saxman Village also has presentations during the summer and usually a totem carver on site. We did Saxman late in the afternoon after the cruise ships left so all of the inside stuff was closed and I can not comment on the dancing and cultural displays. If you only have time for one, skip Saxman. Saxman was clear set up just to get money from the cruise ship tours; Totem Bight is a State Park set up to preserve artifacts. However, based on just the totems and the ambiance of the place, I would give Saxman a 3 and Totem Bight a 9. If you visit Ketchikan, Alaska, don't miss the tour to Saxman village where you can visit the clan house & watch the Natives performing native dance & song & amazed at the totom poles in front of the clan house --- bring back history. Each have their differences and I would actually recommend a visit to both. The only problem we encountered was that the local bus did not run on Sundays to Totem Bight, and a taxi out there and back was going to be way to expensive. Saxman Village is actually part of the local native village while Totem Bight is actually a state park. This tourist attraction is all about the money. A very unfriendly man collects $5.00 to walk up the hill to see the totems. It was almost identical, same jokes, etc. We signed up for an excursion of the Saxman Native Village Totem park. Many of the Saxman Native Village poles were carved in the 1940s to preserve native Tlingit culture. Tours to Saxman Native Village include a show featuring native dancing in full regalia.
